Drake Covers Complex...

...for the February/March issue. *Late Pass* I know this was posted on other sites a few weeks ago, but once I moved back into my place I discovered that the water from the flood damaged my phone/DSL connection...so once again I was without internet access for all of last week. Anywho I'm posting this because I wanted to comment on an excerpt from Drake's interview and more importantly I wanted to post this track...

Bonus:
Drake - My New Shit ft.Von Pea (of Tanya Morgan) & Phonte
That Lil' Wayne/Young Money stuff is cool but this is the type of Drake shit that I love. I just want to point out the fact that this guy's ability to mesh well with everyone from Lil' Wayne to Phonte is amazing.

See video of the cover shoot in Atlanta and read what Drake had to say about fellow up and coming rappers J. Cole, Wale and KiD CuDi after the jump.

Excerpt From Complex Interview...
Interviewer: Around the time that Kanye directed “Best I Ever Had,” it seemed like there was strife between your camp and Cudi’s camp because Kanye was so enamored of you while Cudi’s project was being worked on.

Drake: I wasn’t aware of that. Even so, I could understand. If Wayne were to be enamored—which is a great word—of another young artist, I would be like, “Damn, I’m here too!” But at the same time, it happens in more than one situation. It happens with ‘Ye, and I have a great relationship with Jay, and Jay’s got Wale and J. Cole, who’s one of my favorite dudes rapping right now. I’ve happened to have had more success. I made the most money, I have number-one records, those guys don’t have that shit. And it’s just facts, it’s not even my feelings or that I feel I’m more talented. That’s what the game is about, making great music that earns profit. When it comes to my relationship with the new dudes, I’m just excited for them. I get to sit back in a cool position and be like, “Yo, I’m excited to see you do it now because I know what it’s like, it’s gonna be so much fun for you…”

Interviewer: You feel like you’re at the finish line?

Drake: I’m at the starting line. Those guys are at home, putting on their tracksuits, getting ready to make their attack. When J. Cole gets it super-right, I think he’s gonna have a place as a Nas-type character who really stands for hip-hop, but still makes ill records that everybody fucks with.

*sigh* I already know that the part of his comment that's underlined is going to rub people the wrong way. Look I'm a fan of Wale, J. Cole and Drake...and I'm anticipating hearing J. Cole's debut album just as much as Drake's (if not more). I've never heard Drake come off as arrogant in an interview, but this could be easily seen as that. I don't think there's any denying the fact that Drake's the most successful out of the three at this point. Hell, the guy was been nominated for a Grammy....for a mixtape song. But like they say, it's not what you say, it's how you say it and I think he could've said that differently.

Also, I don't understand what he means by "when J. Cole gets it super right". Correct me if I'm wrong but J. Cole has released two well received mixtapes and he has more of a buzz than Drake had when he released Comeback Season (Drake's 2nd mixtape).....so what does he need to do to "get it super right"? Start singing in autotune?

Head over to Complex to read the rest of the interview.

New Reflection Eternal, Drake, Skillz, Jojo Pellegrino...

You know the deal, I've been away for a minute so I'm playin' catch up. If you don't already have these, here you go...

Reflection Eternal - Just Begun Ft. Jay Electronica, J. Cole & Mos Def
If Jesus listened to hip-hop this is what he'd have in his ipod.

Drake - It's Been A Pleasure
Despite rappin' along side Baby for damn near his whole album, the yellow one hasn't lost a step. "If amazing was a young b***h, I'd be going to jail cuz I'm f**kin' amazing"

Skillz - Rap Up 09'
Smh, here's this guy with his one song a year....now back to his job at Chik-fil-a.

Jojo Pellegrino - Triple Homicide Ft. Sean P & Inspectah Deck
I remember Jojo from a few years back. I thought he went to school or got a day job and gave up on rap. Oh well...I only gave this a listen because "the brokest rapper you know" is on it.

Bonus: Want to see a video of Drake on Nickelodeon's version of "MTV Cribs" from back in his Degrassi days? Hit the jump...

These Are The Gangsta Killers...

...according to an article in GQ's upcoming Man of the Year issue. Supposedly, Wale, Drake and KiD CuDi are responsible for killing gangsta rap and as a result, they've been named "the Gangsta Killers". Well, I'm going to have to disagree....for 2 reasons:

1.) Gangsta rap isn't dead. Maybe in the sense of N.W.A. "F**k The Police" it's dead, but it's still around. It's just not getting as much shine as this whole tight, nut-huggin' pants wearing hipster fad that's going on right now.

2.) If gangsta rap was dead, these guys wouldn't be the murderers. Kanye West & Lupe Fiasco birthed a lot of these new cats. Yeah I know there were others who influenced them, but those two played major roles in shaping their styles.

If you want to read the paragraph that GQ wrote about the "Gangsta Killers" go and buy the magazine...the "article" was garbage.

Side Note:
I rock with Drake, but isn't that the jacket Vin Diesel had on in XXX? Nope, I think I got it...

...it's the same jacket Akbar aka Wolf had on in The Education of Sonny Carson.

New Young Money, Ghostface Killah, 50 Cent, Lloyd...

Young Money Entertainment - Bed Rock Ft. Lil Wayne, Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga, Jae Millz & Lloyd [Full Version]
Nicki Minaj's rap voice is irritating as hell and since I've come to the realization that I can't see her ass while I listen to her rap on this song, they might as well had left her off. Gudda Gudda needs to getta getta day job cuz he's terrible. Other than that I fux with this song. Oh yeah, Omarion was on the original version, then he was dropped asked to be released from Young Money so they replaced him with Lloyd.....Lloyd > Omarion

Ghostface Killah - Back Like That Remix Ft. Kanye West & Ne-Yo
Ghost always goes in when talking about relationships...the original version of this song is one of my favorite Ghostface songs. Btw this is a bonus song off of Ghostdini Wizard Of Poetry In Emerald City which dropped on today....go and support real rap.

50 Cent - Dreamin’ (prod. Dr. Dre)
So I'm just gonna assume that it's a wrap for 50's rap career. I mean he's dropped some really good singles over the past year ("Get It In", "Get Up" & "Okay, You're Right") and yet they've failed to spark any interest in his eternally delayed album, Before I Self-Destruct. Then again if he drops anything remotely close to this again, he might as well retire.

Lloyd - Pusha Ft. Lil Wayne [Mastered]
Ummm I've said it before and I'm going to say it again...Lloyd's last album was on point. That is all.

Drake - Forever...

feat. Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem.

I said it before and I'll say it again...Em bodied this damn song. I swear this is the Eminem that should've been rapping on Relapse. Anywho, people can talk about Jay all they want, but I don't think there's a rapper out there that wants it with Em.

Hype Williams directed the video. Ummm I hope Hype isn't still charging a $1,000,000+ for his videos because they damn sure don't seem worth it anymore. But then again were they ever really? Not knocking him artistically...that's just a lot of damn money.

Btw you really should have this already...
Drake - Forever Ft. Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem

The Yellow One...

...has released quite a few songs over the past week. I'm sure most of you have these already, but for those of you who don't...

Drake - Fear
Ummm this is the type of song that makes all of these half ass rappers realize how much of a problem this guy really is.

Birdman aka Baby - Money To Blow Ft. Drake & Lil' Wayne
I posted this song last week....once again, here's the deal: This song is old. The original version came out over a year ago...before everybody set up permanent residency on Drizzy's balls. Anywho, the original was made by some guy named Jerz Y.A. and it featured Drake ------> Jerz Y.A. - Money To Blow Ft. Drake

Drake - Forever Ft. Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem
Here we go again, another old ass Drake song that's been recycled. I really was looking forward to hearing this...until I heard it and recognized the beat and the hook were on a song that Drake dropped about a year ago. I must say, Em showed his ass on here though. Btw Drake's verse was better on the original-----> Drake - Forever Ft. Lil' Wayne & Kid Kid

Lil' Wayne - My Darlin' Baby Ft. Drake

Wayne would like to dedicate this song to Toya, Nivea, Lauren London, the random stripper who had his son not too long ago and all the girls in the world that he wishes he could f@#k. He's such a charmer....you ladies should feel extremely special. P.S. You're all one of a kind.

New Apathy, Birdman, Estelle, Drake, Shawty Lo...

Apathy - True Love Ft. Phonte
I've never heard of Apathy before this, but I'll give anything a listen if it involves anybody from the Little Brother/Foreign Exchange/J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League crew. This features Phonte so it was a must listen for me. I'm glad I checked this out because the shit is pretty dope. Apathy's upcoming album is titled Wanna Snuggle?, that's hilarious....to me.

Birdman aka Baby - Money To Blow Ft. Drake & Lil' Wayne
Ummm this song is old. The original version came out over a year ago...before everybody set up permanent residency on Drizzy's balls. Anywho, the original was made by some guy named Jerz Y.A. and it featured Drake ------> Jerz Y.A. - Money To Blow Ft. Drake

Estelle - All Nite Long Ft. John Legend & Ludacris
I don't know what to say about this song....okay, yes I do. This song sucks. Estelle is sing-rapping, John Legend sings the tired ass chorus and Ludacris' verse just seems out of place and unnecessary. Btw I hate when people spell 'night' this way ---> nite.

Drake - Killer Ft. Nipsey Hussle
I fux wit this. I've never listened to anything with Nipsey Hussle on it before this....I just couldn't get pass the name.

Shawty Lo - A Town Ft. Ludacris, Gucci Mane & The-Dream
This is obviously supposed to be an Atlanta rap anthem....I think they could've went harder.

Somebody Pull Drake To The Side...

....and tell him to re-think this whole Young Money affiliation. I mean seriously, it hasn't been a good look for him. First it was the BET Awards performance and now this...

Yep...Drake is now a spokesperson for Strapped condoms.

I know WTF? How? Why?

Well Lil' Wayne is the main spokesperson for the line of condoms and I'm guessing he persuaded Drake to join him. Never heard of Strapped condoms?

Neither has Lil' Wayne apparently or else he wouldn't have a child with her and her, or one on the way with her and another one on the way with her.

Like seriously? I know that people pick celebrities to endorse their products because they feel that they're more influential than some regular Joe Smoe, but picking a celebrity with 2 children by 2 different women and 2 children on the way by 2 more woman to endorse a line of condoms is just retarded. Either Wayne doesn't use these condoms at all or he does and they don't work...which is even worse. Either way nobody with an ounce of God given sense would purchase these things.

New Consequence, Slaughterhouse, Wale, Trey Songz, Drake...

Yeah I know, usually I post four songs at a time, but like I said earlier I'm playin' catch up.

Consequence - Whatever You Want Ft. Kanye West & John Legend
I haven't listened to this yet...but on another note "Grammy Family" was the ish.

Slaughterhouse - The One
I saw these guys at the Rock The Bells concert and enjoyed their performance. I'm definitely looking forward to their album.

Wale - Pretty Girls
I haven't really listened to this, but I have listened to Wale's mixtape Back To The Feature which is dope from beginning to end. If you haven't heard it do yourself a favor and download it. It's under the "Get Familiar" section to your left.

Trey Songz - I Need A Girl Remix Ft. Mase
If you attend Pastor Mason Betha's church go play in traffic.

Drake - Best I Ever Had Remix Ft. Mase
If you give tithes to Pastor Mason Betha's church go play in traffic...during rush hour.

Drake - Think Good Thoughts Ft. Phonte & Elzhi
I uploaded this last week but it cut off after about 30 secs...this is the whole song. Thanks Serena for pointing that out.

New SA-RA, Drake, Nickelus F, Da Internz...

SA-RA - Beauty Dirty Ft. Erykah Badu
Ummm, to be honest I'm not a big fan of SA-RA but I know a lot of people that are so I figured I'd post this.

Drake - Think Good Thoughts Ft. Phonte & Elzhi
This is one of my favorite tracks off of Drake's Comeback Season mixtape....the only thing new about this is Elzhi's verse though.

Nickelus F - Mean It
This is off of Nickelus F & Portishead Present: R.A.R.E. (Reliving A Real Experience), dropping this Friday at OnSMASH. I fux wit it.

Da Internz - Wetter (Every Girl Parody)
I meant to add this to the video post the other day...oh well.

Wheelchair Jimmy...

...is on a roll....with the ladies. I don't know when or where this pic was taken, but it doesn't look like it's that old.

The girl in the pic is Teyana Taylor, who's mostly known for being on an episode of MTV's Sweet Sixteen. Her name still doesn't ring a bell, huh? Well she released the appropriately titled song/video called "Google Me" in anticipation that you would have no fuckin' clue who she is. All in all, they could just be close friends, but I'm guessing they don't call him "Heartbreak" Drake for nothin'.

Btw, click here to see how Jimmy became "Wheelchair" Jimmy.

There's also a few more pics after the jump.

It Wasn't Me...

I'm sure you've heard by now about the supposed late night rendezvous between Drake and Rihanna. I know I'm late with info sometime but I work a real job. Anyway, they were supposedly spotted kissing at Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge in New York a few days ago.

Drake recently denied the allegations on Hot97, stating...

"It's not like that at all...I'm being honest. She's just a friend, that's all. A great artist."

Then right after that he admitted that they both were at the same spot. So go figure.

To be honest I really don't give a shit about this....but if it is true, can you really blame Drake? Shiiiit, once I saw those naked pics of Rihanna I started to give her a call and see if I could come over and hang out. You know watch some movies, order some food, take pictures of her naked, play video games, make a sex tape, listen to some music (not hers though)...you know just chill. Then I realized that you actually have to have somebody's number to call them...

I'm just wondering how Drake's current significant other Bria (you know of "Bria's Interlude") feels about this.

Welcome To Chicago Drake...

So Drake was here in Chicago for a performance this past Friday at the House of Blues. For those of you who aren't familiar with Chicago, the House of Blues is located downtown. I'm sure you've heard about all of the violence in Chicago. Well, it usually takes place everywhere but downtown...except for this past weekend.

By now you've probably heard that Drake's show was ended abruptly when a fight broke out during his performance (check out the clip above). Shortly afterward, a man was shot in the ass less than a block away.

So of course I have a few things to say about all of this...

1.) Hey Drake, it's possible this may have been out of your control, but being 3 hours late to a performance is never a good look.

2.) The thing you're doing with the your right arm throughout your performance is Kanye's move. It's cool though, I just wanted to point that out.

3.) On Drake's first mixtape Room For Improvement he unofficially remixed Lupe Fiasco's song "Kick, Push".....and Lupe talked a lot of shit about him. So who do we have on stage pulling Drake back at end of the clip? It's none other than I'm gonna ride Drake's dick because he's hot now Lupe Fiasco.

4.) Out of all the songs that Drake performed, you lames chose to kick it off during his performance of "Best I Ever Had"? Really?

5.) On "Ignorant Shit", Drake said "Cuz them hipsters gonna have to get along with them hood niggas".....ummm not so much.

6.) Drake started talking shit and moving towards the edge of the stage when the fight broke out. Next time just be cool....why?

Because this is Chicago. I live here, and unfortunately, some really bad people live here as well. The type of people who kill men, woman and children and don't think twice about it. Yeah, I know those type of people exist in every city in America, but they seem to be more prevalent here than in other cities. For instance, last year 314 soldiers were killed in Iraq....509 people were murdered in Chicago. Don't believe me go here or look it up yourself. With that said, when shit jumps off and somebody from Chicago tells you to fall back...fall back. Seriously, wheelchair Jimmy was television...but wheelchair Drizzy could be a reality.

7.) Lastly, I really hate the fact that I've seen footage of Drake performing in various cities across America and hadn't heard of any violent incidents...until he came here. All in all, hopefully he'll return to Chicago and he and those attending his concert will have a more pleasant experience.

P.S. Stay classy Chicago.

New Chrisette Michele, St. Lunatics, Maxwell, Swizz Beatz...

Chrisette Michele - Blame It On Me
She's dope...I hate that she doesn't get the recognition she deserves.

St. Lunatics - St. Lunatics
Nelly gets it in on here.

Maxwell - Pretty Wings
What has this guy been doing all this time?

Swizz Beatz - The Best I Ever Had Remix
Hey Swizz, don't ever remix another Drake track again....seriously, ever again. Oh and you're just gonna put you and Alicia's (Keys) business out there in a random verse? More on that later...

Fabolous Ft. The-Dream - Throw It In The Bag
Is it me or is The-Dream the new R. Kelly minus the urine?

Fabolous Ft. Jeremih - It's My Time
Don't know who Jerimih is? He's the one who made that greazy ass song "Birthday Sex".

Lil Wayne & Drake - I’m Goin’ In
Short, sweet and straight to the point.

Elzhi - Deep (prod. by Black Milk)
Stop sleeping on Elzhi and Black Milk.

Random Quote: Drake

Drake was recently interviewed by Complex and he shed light on quite a few topics including his upcoming album, ghostwriting for Lil' Wayne, his family's musical background, how he got started rapping and why his chooses to disclose the fact his Phantom is leased.

Here he explains the meaning behind the title of his most recent mixtape, So Far Gone.

"The whole tape extends from one of my closest friends Oliver—One night we were having a discussion about women and they way we were talking about them, it was so brazen and so disrespectful. He texted me right after we got off the phone and he was like, “Are we becoming the men that our mothers divorced?” That’s really where the cover comes from, too. It’ just this kid in pursuit of love and money. We’re good guys, I’m friends with some real good people and for him to even text me after we got off the phone it just showed we have a conscience. But sometimes you just get so far gone, you get wrapped up in this shit."

To read the entire interview go to Complex.

Also, go here to get the chopped n' screwed version of So Far Gone.

Drake - So Far Gone (Mixtape)

It's here...
Tracklist, link and a few words after the jump.
He's been on the scene since late 2006 when he dropped his first mixtape Room For Improvement, which was followed by Comeback Season in 2008. Both, proved that Aubrey Drake Graham was quite capable of transitioning from an actor, with his role as "Jimmy Brooks" on Degrassi High, to a serious hip-hop (and part-time R&B) artist. While he garnered a considerable amount of attention, other "up and coming artist" continued to dominate with magazines interviews and a substantial amount of undeserving attention from various Hip-Hop websites. While all of those artist were being touted as "the next big thing" none of them have been able to transform their "buzz" into commercial success. I've been listening to Drake since his 1st mixtape dropped and while his debut album is far from release, I'm pretty convinced that this is one "up and coming" artist who is actually going to live up to the hype.

BTW, check out both of his previous mixtapes under the Get Familiar section to the left.

Drake - Ignorant Shit

This is off of Drake's new mixtape So Far Gone, check back here Thursday for the entire mixtape.

Drake feat. Lil' Wayne - Ignorant Shit

BTW, Wayne should've went first because Drizzy murdered this shit.

Drake > Any of "The 10 Freshman of '09" that were on the cover of XXL.
