Which One Doesn't Belong?

Love > Hate.

Details after the jump...

Apparently some ignorant customer or employee of Barnes & Noble placed this book in the middle of a window display featuring books about/by Barack Obama. Here's B&N's apology.

Barnes & Noble would like to publicly apologize for what happened in our Coral Gables, Florida store. We believe that a customer played a cruel joke and placed an inappropriate title in the front window of our store, where we were featuring books written by or about President Obama. We want to assure our customers that the book placed by someone other than our booksellers was never intended to be included in our display and was removed as soon as we became aware of the situation. We are looking into it and are taking the steps necessary so that it does not happen again. From time to time customers will move titles from one area of the store to another. In this particular case, we do not condone whatever message may have been intended with the placement of this title in our Presidential display. It certainly was not part of our merchandising and we regret that we didn’t see the placement of this title immediately.

Mary Ellen Keating, Spokesperson
Barnes & Noble, Inc.

No need for Al "the perm" Sharpton or Jessie "cut yo nuts off" Jackson to say anything, this was obviously the work of one individual. But I don't think B&N should be so quick to assume it was a customer. They might wanna take a look at some of their employees at that location.

Soooo...For Real?

Remember that little happy group of brothers that sang about candy coated rain drops? The ones Heavy D discovered and had dancin' around on roller skates in JW outfits with mini-afros?

Well one of them is on the run.

Brian Dalyrimple (of the group Soul For Real), is allegedly on the run with his 10-month-old son after being linked to a case of identity theft that involves more than 200 victims. The victims, according to police, are now out of more than $1 million collectively as the result of identity theft and financial fraud...

Click here to read the entire story.

Btw, does anybody remember JW Stores? They had at least 3 in every mall back in the early 90's. They sold really cheap men's clothing that would fade and fall apart after washing them. They had deals like 4 pair of jeans for $40....nope, doesn't ring a bell? Oh, how do I know so much about it? no reason...nevermind.

It's The Return of Dru Hill...

Apparently, the dragon infatuated R&B group has a new reality show. But wait it gets better, the show is called "Keith Sweat's Platinum House". The premise is that Keith Sweat puts Dru Hill in a house and helps them record their comeback album.
Yeah, good stuff...but see the problem here is that Keith Sweat hasn't made a comeback album. Talk about the blind leading the blind, that's like Adina Howard helping SWV record their comeback album.

The premiere aired last night on Peachtree TV. Is that like Atlanta's version of channel 19? Check out a preview of the show after the jump.

Btw I really don't feel the need to comment on that pic (which was taken from the show's promo photoshoot), it speaks for itself.

Stop Obama...

While I can't say that I agree with everything that President Obama says or does, I can definitely say that I don't agree with anything Mr. Keyes has ever said or done.

Something tells me he's still a little salty about losing the Senate seat to Obama back in '04.

New Kanye, Cam'ron....

Kanye West (Feat. T-Pain) - Flight School
*yawn* um this was supposed to be for GLC's album...

Cam'ron - I Used To Get It In Ohio
Killlaaaaa!!!!

Kanye's Girl Got A Girlfriend...

...at least that's that word.If you haven't heard Ye's supposedly dating model/video vixen Amber Rose. Well Amber's former or current boo (depends on who you ask) isn't too happy about that.

Something tells me that Kanye isn't losin' any sleep over this...have you seen her Smooth Magazine spread?

Weave > Teflon....

To all of you woman out there with real hair...please think twice before making fun of your weave wearing sistas. While some may be wearing it for fashion, LaShawniqua from the Ickes is wearing it for survival.

Random Quote: Drake

Drake was recently interviewed by Complex and he shed light on quite a few topics including his upcoming album, ghostwriting for Lil' Wayne, his family's musical background, how he got started rapping and why his chooses to disclose the fact his Phantom is leased.

Here he explains the meaning behind the title of his most recent mixtape, So Far Gone.

"The whole tape extends from one of my closest friends Oliver—One night we were having a discussion about women and they way we were talking about them, it was so brazen and so disrespectful. He texted me right after we got off the phone and he was like, “Are we becoming the men that our mothers divorced?” That’s really where the cover comes from, too. It’ just this kid in pursuit of love and money. We’re good guys, I’m friends with some real good people and for him to even text me after we got off the phone it just showed we have a conscience. But sometimes you just get so far gone, you get wrapped up in this shit."

Kanye West Covers Details...

In the March issue of Details, Kanye talks about a few things like his fashion style, his clothing line Pastelle, the word "gay" and his first beat.

Where did his inspiration for his first beat come from? Read that after the jump...I think you'll find it somewhat interesting.

"First beat I did...was in seventh grade, on my computer. I got into doing beats for the video games I used to try to make. My game was very sexual. The main character was, like, a giant penis. It was like Mario Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas. Mind you, I'm 12 years old, and this is stuff 30-year-olds are programming. You'd have to draw in and program every little step—it literally took me all night to do a step, 'cause the penis, y'know, had little feet and eyes."

Ummm...okay, am I the only one that finds that a little weird? Oh well, I guess that's path he needed to take to get to where he's at.

To read the entire interview go to Details.

Mr. Silent Killer Gas Passer...

You're waiting for the elevator. It finally arrives and there's a guy already on it. As you get on the elevator you notice that he has a strange look on his face, a cross between anger and irritation. You assume that he's upset because he only had a few floors to go before reaching the lobby and you just came along and interrupted his non-stop private elevator ride.

Initially you think to yourself "get over...", then before you're able to complete the thought, the most pungent odor begins to fill the elevator.

This is the point when you realize that he wasn't upset with the fact that you interrupted his private elevator ride. That look was more along the lines of "Damn, I just let one go."

Well this is dedicated to the funky bastard that I got on the elevator with earlier this week.

Royce Da 5'9 - Part of Me

Royce and the art of storytelling... (NSFW)
Ummm...this should've been called "The Most Valuable Part of Me".

Random Quote: Kanye West

Last week Kanye talked about The Blueprint 3 on Sway and King Tech's "Wake Up Show."
"I finished his album and he released four songs that were potentially gonna be on the album, so I gotta go back and do four. I just did one beat the other day in Hawaii — probably one of the best hip-hop beats of all time, if I do say so myself. I just gotta do three more beats and we're done, 'cause he's got classics. He's got songs that are better than any of the things you've heard leaked."

"You know what it was — every year I do two albums' worth of really dope beats, this year, Common did his album with Pharrell, and I did 808s & Heartbreak and Blueprint 3. So just imagine the caliber of beats on the last two Common albums I did — Jay-Z has those types of beats. Those caliber of beats. A beat like 'The People,' that's the highest caliber of beat."

If this was anybody else I would call bullshit...but it's Ye' and he's earned the right to be arrogant about his production. I will say that by calling this The Blueprint 3, the bar for this album has been set pretty high. Especially since The Blueprint was 10x > The Blueprint 2.

The Greatest Love of All...

Happy Valentines Day from Randy Watson...

8 Babies, 1 Woman...

I'm sure by now you've heard of the psychopath, Nadya Suleman, who impregnated herself with 8 babies via in vitro fertilization and recently gave birth via c-section (obviously).

Well, if you're curious to see what it looks like to walk around with 8 babies in your stomach...

You couldn't have paid me enough to slice that shit open...it looks like she got knocked up by an alien. Sooo is it me or is it about time for a little regulation regarding in vitro fertilization?

Cam'ron Covers XXL...

In the April issue of XXL Killa Cam talks about the current rift with him and the other Dipset members, his hiatus from the music scene, his upcoming album and 50 Cent:

Interviewer:
What’s the status of the situation (50 Cent beef) now? If you and 50 walked into the same room, is there beef, or is it done?
(Read his response after the jump.)

Cam'ron: 50 can kiss my ass. That’s the basic moral of the story. I’m not one of them people, once we beefin’, I’ma be like, “Yo, I wish it didn’t happen.” It is what it is.

Well, that was straight to the point. For more excerpts from the interview go to XXL.

"I get the boosters boostin', I get computers putin'/Y'all get shot at, call me, I do the shooting"

Okay, I know...he raps like he never made it past the 4th grade, but he's funny as hell.

Just in case you haven't heard it...

Drake - So Far Gone (Mixtape)

It's here...
Tracklist, link and a few words after the jump.
He's been on the scene since late 2006 when he dropped his first mixtape Room For Improvement, which was followed by Comeback Season in 2008. Both, proved that Aubrey Drake Graham was quite capable of transitioning from an actor, with his role as "Jimmy Brooks" on Degrassi High, to a serious hip-hop (and part-time R&B) artist. While he garnered a considerable amount of attention, other "up and coming artist" continued to dominate with magazines interviews and a substantial amount of undeserving attention from various Hip-Hop websites. While all of those artist were being touted as "the next big thing" none of them have been able to transform their "buzz" into commercial success. I've been listening to Drake since his 1st mixtape dropped and while his debut album is far from release, I'm pretty convinced that this is one "up and coming" artist who is actually going to live up to the hype.

BTW, check out both of his previous mixtapes under the Get Familiar section to the left.

Black Milk feat. Royce Da 5'9 - Losing Out

These guys lose their minds on this. Unfortunately this is one of the most slept on songs...please wake up.

Jadakiss - Kiss My Ass: The CHAMP Is Here Pt.2

I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet, but if it's anything like the The Champ Is Here Pt.1 this will be in heavy rotation.

The Last Kiss drops March 10th.

Christina Milian Covers KING...

Usually when I post magazine covers I try to give you a little insight on the person on the cover. Whether it's a quote from an interview, a link to a recent song.....something. In this case I really don't have anything to say about Ms. Milian. Is it because she isn't doing anything remotely relative to the entertainment industry? or is it because I wouldn't care even if she was? Let's go with both. With that said, I only posted this because she's still fine.
